Skatch (formerly Crystal)
Lovely five-year-old Crystal, now known as Saskatchewan, or Skatch for short, is home with her forever family, Don, Kimberly, and canine sister (SHLR alumna) Madison.
Skatch has been enjoying cuddling with her new parents, car rides, and afternoon naps. Don tells us that Skatch "is incredibly graceful, and leaps onto the couch like a ballerina", and has inspired older sister Madison to jump onto the couch and bed instead of crawling up or using stairs. He stated that "Skatch has been a very positive agent on Madison and us. She couldn't be sweeter or nicer and we are so glad we get to take care of her forever." Kim added that "Maddie is a little jealous of her sometimes, but we keep reminding her that there is plenty of love to go around."
Don and Kimberly are pictured with Skatch (left) and Madison.

Rocky (formerly Townes)
Tom, Anne, and daughter Alison were very excited to welcome Rocky, (formerly Townes), into the family. Three-year-old Rocky and young Alison quickly became best friends, and he responds extraordinarily well to her. The three resident cats are slowly adjusting to Rocky, and the rest of the family members have officially become 'cat and dog people'.
Rocky is well loved by all in his new forever home!

Kobi (formerly Derby)
While there was always plenty of activity at Lori and Ron's home, with five children ranging in age from 11 years to college age, something was still missing. They hadn't had a dog around the house for about eight years — so Kobi came to their rescue! After Kobi adopted them, he jumped right in their car to go home, and immediately acted as if he had been with the family forever.
There are always plenty of kids around the house, and three-year-old Kobi is loving all the attention from kids and adults alike. So far Kobi pretty much ignores the family cat, and refuses to comment on the resident snake and fish. He enjoys fetching, and loves hanging out with Ron, who is a pastor and often at home during the day. Now their home is complete, and they are really enjoying having Kobi in the family.

Chaco
Gorgeous five-year-old Chaco is living the Lab dream in his new home, with a huge yard complete with grass, trees, and brush for sniffing, and his very own pond for jumping and swimming. Best of all, he gets to enjoy it with his wonderful new mother, Marcia, and his new feline sibling.
After his adoption was completed, sweet Chaco trotted off after Marcia to assist her with a painting task. A Lab's work is never done.

Bosco
It was a family affair when Darin and Ania, their children Elizabeth and Clayton, their ten-year-old black Lab, Fordham, and Ania's mother, who was visiting from Florida, all came along to meet handsome 4½ month old Bosco. They recently lost their other beloved Lab who had been Fordham's lifelong companion, and were looking for a young pup to help fill the void.
The two dogs were instant buddies as Fordham, the senior gentleman, gamely tried to keep up with energetic young Bosco, who showered him with puppy kisses for his efforts. Everyone was very excited to meet the newest family member, and all quickly agreed that he was the perfect boy for them. The kids and dogs got a great workout chasing each around, and all should sleep very well tonight!

Cooper
What a match made in heaven! Ian seemed smitten with mellow four-year-old Cooper the minute he walked through the door. After about 5 minutes of cuddles and questions Ian said ‘let’s do this’.
Cooper has an awesome life ahead: trails, swimming, backpacking and following Ian to work from time to time. Sounds like a good companionship is just beginning!

Bear
Meet five-year-old Bear with his new family Justine and John. Not pictured is kitty, Posse who is still trying to figure out what this creature is that is wandering around the house.
Bear is so happy to be in his new and loving home. His days will be full of lots of fun and belly rubs and maybe even the addition of a Lab buddy in the future!

Macy
Little Macy could not have dreamed of a more perfect forever home than the one she found with Jim, Barb and Lab brother Pete.
When Barb saw Macy's picture on our website and read her story, she shared it with Jim and they both knew they had to meet Macy. It was a mutual love at first sight and Macy is now settling into their home. Their quiet lifestyle suits her perfectly and with gentle Pete as a very willing role model, she will learn "first paw" how to be confident and trusting.
After first raising a little family of her own at Safe Harbor and then seeing each puppy off to a new home, she's finally got one of her own and all her troubles are behind her forever.

Hurley (formerly Rocky)
Travis and Kelly waited for the better part of a year for the right dog to come along before they found Rocky, who has been renamed Hurley, and they tell us he was well worth the wait and fits in perfectly in their home.
Hurley had obviously been loved by his previous family and was already fairly well trained when they got him, however they are still enrolled in a doggy training course that they are all really enjoying. Hurley has slowly but surely become a great housemate and company to their kitty, Macho — they both love the water and poke their heads in the shower in the morning. Hurley loves the car more than anything, and has already been on some fun road trips and hikes with his new people.

Zac
No one looked for Zac when he was lost, and when he wasn’t claimed at the shelter, he came to Safe Harbor and was quickly snapped up by his adopters who having waited awhile, knew a catch when they saw one.
Barb and Paul wanted to add a Lab to their family after recovering from the loss of their first SHLR Lab, Kacey. Their other Lab, Sam (also an SHLR Lab and Mr. July on our 2011 Calendar) welcomed Zac and immediately showed him the lay of land which was considerable. Acres of lush agricultural land, walking trails and even a swimming hole. A great new beginning for handsome Zac!
