Tyra

Tyra with Chris and ManaHappy, beautiful Tyra was adopted by new her family, Chris and Mana. Many years ago Chris and Mana adopted Oslo from Safe Harbor and lost him this past spring. They weren’t sure they could find anyone to fill his shoes, but Tyra captured their hearts as soon as they met her. Tyra shares her new home with three very inquisitive and bold kitties.

Amber (formerly Honey)

Amber with Barbara & RodAmber Autumn, formerly known as Honey, has adjusted well to her new home after having been a stray. She loves her new humans, two beds, fuzzy toys, and yard. She loves to go for rides in the car and seldom is she left alone. She has such a sweet disposition and loves all people. Her obedience training is going well and she especially enjoys long walks. Amber has not disturbed anything in the house or yard. How lucky we are to have such a sweet girl and we love her very much!

Rod and Barbara

Update 11/6/07 from Amber’s loving family: Just a quick note to let you know how wonderful Amber is doing. She is the sweetest, most affectionate dog I have ever seen. She has to be near one of us all the time and she loves to be petted. When in the car, she stands between us looking out and is constantly giving us kisses. She is doing very well with her basic commands. She still is hiding her fuzzy pig and sleeps with it and carries it around all the time.  She has not bothered or torn up one thing in the house, yard, or car. We feel very thankful and blessed to have her with us.

Bo

Bo & CarlaHere is Bo and his new mom Carla in their back yard—aren't they perfect together? Bo has found a wonderful forever home with his new family. Carla has a boyfriend with a small terrier mix and she has 2 cats that have traveled all over the world with her while she was in the service. Carla already has Bo signed up for obedience training, doggie day care 2-3x/week at Camp Bow Wow Parker (where he was top dog yesterday) and spends lots of time with him every day. They are an active family, and Bo is having a blast.

Bo likes to pick up crab apples and throw them all over the back yard and chase them—interestingly, he does not eat them, and he LOVES to drink out of the fish pond—the one lone fish in there must love that. Then he runs around and flops down on his back and rolls in the grass and plays with his paws—which are gigantic. Welcome home, Bo!

Daisy

Daisy with Carol & BobDear Safe Harbor Staff and Volunteers:

We adopted our Daisy (formerly Dulche) on January 1, 2006, and she has been an integral part of our family ever since, giving us so much pleasure.  It breaks our hearts to think of her time in the animal shelter—her barking misconstrued because we know that was a joyous bark. She had a rough couple of years but lucky for us that we were able to have her and she now has a warm and loving home and is very happy (and so are we).

Daisy loves people and is excited to see them. She thinks that everyone who comes to the door has come to see her and, most always, people will give her the desired attention. Daisy is very, very good about obeying. We allow her to great guests in the driveway and then watch them when they leave.

We have two sets of friends who really do come to see her – she is the center of their attention and greet her first. We also have two homes where Daisy is an invited guest along with us!  There is a little boy who lives behind us. He will climb on the back fence and call her. Bob will give him her ball and the little boy throws it for her—which makes them both happy.

Daisy has different “expressions”. She gets her ears up and eyes extremely bright – that means she is anticipating something exciting, such as going for a walk or a ride, both of which she knows how to spell. She also will have the ears slightly down and her big brown eyes are soft and pleading – that means she wants something. If I haven’t figured out what she wants I ask her to “show me”.  One night she came to the side of the bed and did “her thing”—I knew she had had her nightly chicken jerky treats, been out, etc. I finally figured out that she wanted the ceiling fan on.  Spoiled? We have central air but she likes her fan.

At night Daisy chooses to either sleep with us or in front of the air condition vents – and she has her own lovely bed (with her name on it) but rarely uses it. “Miss Daisy” travels with us in the car most of the time unless it is too hot. Then, of course, we get the “guilt trip”.

Enclosed is a small donation in Daisy’s name in appreciation of her rescue for us.

Sincerely,
Carol and Bob

Joey

Joey with Wade & JeanneJoey (pictured on left) has found his forever home with his new dad, Wade, his new mom, Jeanne, and his brother, Griffin, a Table Mountain Animal Center alumni who joined the family two years ago.

Joey is looking forward to lots of hiking and camping with his new loving family. He and Griffin are already best buddies and have such a great time playing together.

Bailey

Bailey with Christina & CameronBailey’s success story is a very special one. He came to Safe Harbor from a shelter. While he was in our program, Laura, one of our wonderful behaviorists and Carol, one of our dedicated foster moms, worked in tandem with Bailey to help him with some behavior modification (Laura and Carol as well as all the other members of our organization donate all their time). It was discovered that Bailey needed to have his confidence boosted and needed special owners who could put him at ease gently, but with authority so that he knew he could relax and just be a dog and let the humans take care of themselves without his help.

Bailey found the perfect home with his wonderful new family Christina, John and Cameron, who are committed to his long term success and happiness. What a wonderful new beginning for this very special Lab. Now Bailey can snuggle with his new family and enjoy the life of a much loved family member. No wonder he was such a happy boy when he posed for his adoption photo with Christina and Cameron!

Beau

Beau & JulieA very happy Beau is pictured with his new mom, Julie, on adoption day. Beau will live in Colorado Springs with Julie, her two children and Beau’s new canine sister, Cocoa, who came along for the adoption at the Alameda East's Animal Lodge. She and Beau took to each other right away and Cocoa was very excited to have Beau join the family.

Lucky Beau is going to have such a wonderful new life!

Buster

BusterThis is a short note from me, Buster, to let you know my new life is pretty darn good! I have a black labradorable sister who is six months older than me.  She’s very special even though she thinks she’s the boss (I’ll let her continue to believe that).  I also have two BIG equine brothers. I’ve learned that they prefer to play with each other instead of with me.

My favorite thing still is anything to do with balls (basketballs, jolly balls and tennis balls) and there’s soooooo much room for me to chase after them. Even if no one is around to throw a ball, I still entertain myself with them.

My moms, Petey and Jetta, are letting me know their expectations and I’m trying to accommodate them.  All I really have to do is look at them with my great big “cow eyes” and everything is just fine.

I really love my new family and I am so glad I am here and LOVED!

Happy Boy, Buster

Jackson

Jackson with Harris & JohnA very happy Jackson is pictured here posing in his new front yard with Harris and John, his new mom and dad.

Jackson took to his new bed immediately which is right next to the dining room table. He is adjusting beautifully to his new home and doing great with the three kitties.

Harris says he’s especially good at giving kisses. They are sure to have a wonderful life together.

Luke

Luke & BetsyHere is Luke pictured with her wonderful new mom, Betsy. Betsy is a transplant from North Carolina where she did Lab Rescue volunteering.

Luke jumped right into the car with Betsy and her boyfriend, Todd, and off they went to begin their new life together. What a happy ending for this stunning Lab.
