Max
Sweet 9 year old Max was adopted by his wonderful new mom, Sarah. Sarah has been looking for the right time to bring her first dog into
her life, and her roommates were most understanding about this handsome
gentleman joining their very cool pad in downtown Denver. Max walked
in and made himself right at home and was curled up snoring softly at
Sarah's feet as we talked.
Max — who turns 10 next month — has been with the same family his whole
life. They are moving out of state and needed to find a new home for
him. Max is one lucky guy — Sarah is completely committed to caring
for him in his senior years and placing his needs first. We pray that
someday all dogs are as lucky as Max — his new mom is very special, and
is willing to readjust her life to meet his needs.
Max’s new life with his forever mom will consist of lots of walks, and
hanging out with her and her roommates. Sarah and Max were on their
way to Petsmart to stock up on Max necessities right after his adoption.
Pictured here is Max with Sarah (left) and one of her awesome roommates
— Happy Holidays to all of them!

Abby
Abby was adopted today by her new family Joe, Natalie, Jessie and Cody.
She was so excited to meet them, and ran all over the house checking
it out — and the backyard - before she found a ball to play with and
then settled in with all of us while we concluded her joyous adoption! Joe had been looking for the perfect little girl to add to their
family, and she will be a much loved and pampered family member!
Darling Abby's story did not start out so well! Abby found her way
into a small shelter downstate a few months ago where she gave birth— at only one year old - to two puppies. She was then taken by a Good
Samaritan and brought to Safe Harbor after eight weeks.
Abby - soon to have a new name to go with her new Name — immediately
began settling in to her new and wonderful life.

Tuck
Hi, my name is Tuck. I am a two year old male black lab (wearing blue)
who is very timid and somewhat fearful of people so I was looking for a
special family to help me learn to trust. I hung out in Denver for a
spell with my wonderful foster parents. Then these folks (and their
dog) from Wyoming blew down to look at me and I followed them home! I’m now in my forever home with human parents, Mike and Laurie, and
canine sister, Shadow.
I’ve met several new people and dogs and everyday we work on basic
obedience. Weekends bring outside adventures, and mom tells me I’m a
Wyoming dog because horizontal blowing snow doesn’t faze me! We’ve
been snowshoeing several times and its great fun. My sister, Shadow,
is a geriatric so she doesn’t always go so far, but she runs with me in
the snow when she can and is helping me learn “COME” because she’s
reliable and I follow her in.
I’m told one day we’ll graduate to skiing when I can be off leash more
and later skijoring. In the summer we’ll spend our days at our cabin
riding mountain bicycles and hiking in the boonies. Sounds like great
fun! I have much to learn but every day is a new learning experience
and I’m coming along nicely.

Moose
Moose was adopted by his wonderful new dad, Doug, and canine big brother Griz. Doug has been looking for a brother for Griz, and saw Moose and felt that Griz and Moose would be the perfect labbie boy combo.
Moose is a one year old youngster with lots of energy who, like many wonderful, loving Labs, ended up at the shelter because no one had time to spend good quality time with him and give him the attention all labs need and deserve. Now Moose's wonderful new life will consist of lots of walks, hiking, sleeping on the king size bed with the rest of the family and going everywhere with Dad and Griz — who are completely taken with him!
Pictured are Moose (right), Doug and Griz — we envision a joyful holiday season for all of them.

Payton
Our third flower puppy Violet (now Payton) was adopted by Jamie and
Mark and their canine daughters — both also beautiful black labs.
Payton fit right in — there was a lot of playing and zoomies in the
backyard, and then they all settled in nicely indoors. Our sweet
flower child was nervous and quiet on the ride to her new home, but as
soon as she got into the yard with her new sisters she was good to go.
Payton will be a MUCH loved and spoiled member of their lovely home.

Drake (formerly Kudo)
Drake (formerly Kudo) was adopted by Lori and her daughter, Hannah. They have been waiting for the perfect house with a big yard to play in, and then waited to find the perfect sweet boy to settle into their life — and that was Drake.
Drake is an extra-special boy who was left at a shelter by a breeder when he was no longer needed. He is just 2 or 3 years old and 60 compact pounds of chocolate joy. He is loving and very trainable and deserves a great home like the one he found. When I left their home, Hannah had already taught him to sit!
What a blessing for Drake to be home for the holidays with his new mom and sister!

U2
Our second flower puppy — Iris - now U2 — was adopted by Karen and Steve and their family which includes new big canine sister, Meg, who is a beautiful 18 month old black lab herself!
When U2 arrived at her new home, Karen had put Meg in another room to allow Iris to slowly sniff her way into the kitchen — where she discovered Meg! She was INSTANTLY all wags and smiles! Meg was busy giving her cues and showing her the ropes. Iris/U2 immediately started to play and munched on some food, and then found some toys!
U2 will be a MUCH loved and spoiled member of their lovely home.

Bruno
Our darling 8 year old Bruno was adopted by the most amazing family. He will be joining 2 senior dogs (13 and 14 years old), and Mom, Clair, Dad, Kelvin, and 7 year old son Bryce. Bruno will be a much loved family member, and his bed will be in Bryce's room! Bryce even helped pay part of the adoption fee! He went to his room and returned with $40 that had been a gift to him from his aunt. He was so proud to hand it over to help pay for other dogs to come into our program and get the chance that Bruno got to be saved.
Bruno was a beloved pet to his former owner who died a few months ago. Bruno was taken to the shelter where he was unlikely to place due to his age. Bruno was literally heartbroken for quite some time from the loss of his owner and the rapid change in his circumstances. We have all fallen in love with him - and all of his angels along the way have saved his life.
Bruno will spend this holiday season, and many, many more in a home with so much love to share. The attached picture is Bruno with his new mom, Claire, and his new boy, Bryce — who believes with all his little heart that all dogs should be loved and have the same chance Bruno got.

Lucas Bear
Lucas Bear’s (formerly Luke) AMAZING foster family has completely fallen in love with Lukas and adopted him. It has been a LOOOOOONG road for this incredibly resilient young guy, and he could not be in a better place.
Luas — who is about 3.5 years old — was injured (we think by a car) when he was 3 months old. When he was surrendered to a shelter had had a very damaged back leg which he had ceased to be able to use. Several years later Lucas found his way to Safe Harbor. He had gotten to the point where he was in so much pain that he yelped when touched and he was in danger of losing his leg.
After Lucas joined Safe Harbor we had him evaluated and treated by our veterinary partner at Alameda East and Animal Lodge, and their wonderful therapist Tammy. They all worked so hard to get Lucas healthy — and he wound up not needing to get his leg amputated! He has been fitted with a prosthetic boot and has dropped the weight that was exacerbating the issue with his leg.
Lucas has been so blessed to be fostered by Teresa and her wonderful family — her husband and the kids are all involved. They have all fallen in love with him - including their little terrier, Rosie, who is completely smitten with him. Lucas has been with them for months and they have truly saved his life.
Lucas Bear is one lucky dog, and we know his forever home will be everything he ever dreamed of.

Rocky (formerly Cody)
Rocky (formerly Cody) was adopted today by his wonderful new parents, Tom and Kim, and lucky Focky will be living with them high in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Tom lost his beloved lab earlier this year and had been searching for the right dog — and he found him in Rocky. At approximately two years old, Rocky has truly blossomed into an amazing, athletic and completely affectionate big boy.
Rocky's new life will consist of lots of walks, hiking, runs in the mountains and lots of special time with his new parents — who are completely smitten with him!!!!
