“Toby has got to be the most handsome sweetest boy ever!” remarked one of Toby’s many admirers, and we wholeheartedly agree! He’s a toy-loving, friendly Lab-mix who’s about six-years old. He comes to us from an owner whose circumstances changed and who could no longer care for him.
This adaptable boy quickly made himself right at home with his foster dad. Good-natured Toby is house-trained and fine with free roam of the house. He knows some basic commands, takes treats nicely, rides well in the car and is a gentlemanly greeter. On the leash, he’s pretty good. Toby enjoys going to the park and hanging out in the shade while his foster dad plays volleyball. Speaking of playing, Toby LOVES to fetch and is a pup who can never have enough toys! “Toys, oh boy, I love toys!!” wags Toby.
Toby’s foster dad tells us: “I really enjoy his companionship and was touched by how quickly he bonded with me. Within about 24 hours, I was watching TV with an 88 lb dog sprawled across my lap. He is a very handsome guy with one distinctive white paw. My volleyball friends at the park all like him, too. Toby is very sweet and loving, and sleeps on my bed at night. He has been friendly with everyone he’s met while he’s been in my care. He does not like other dogs invading his personal space, though. He is a sensitive boy who has been a nearly perfect guest in my house.”
Like many Lab and Lab-mixes, Toby is prone to ear infections. They are likely caused by allergies and have required care by our vet. His new family needs to be committed to diligently monitoring and/or treating his ears, and providing a prescription food.
His foster dad adds: “I think Toby would be happy with an individual or a family where people would play with him. He will do best in a loving home where his gentle, playful nature is appreciated.”
