Achilles crossed The Bridge 1/29/24. He was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma three months ago (just after we brought him home). The main issue was something completely unexpected. His walking issues were originally thought to be arthritis, but turned out to be Degenerative Myelopathy, the dog version of ALS. Seems like he had this for a long time. In spite of acupuncture, exercise and therapy, the disease progressed very rapidly in the last month.

Achilles, in the beginning, was able to move about pretty well, walking a half mile up in the foothills, in the sun and fresh air. He got to bark at the cows that came around and the deer. And, we found out, he loved peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

Achilles went willingly and in peace. He was a kind, gentle soul. His life changed ours in that short, short time and we are the better because of him. We could not and cannot help but love him.

Thank you Achilles!!
