Marisa and Kyle and their five-year-old Lab, Cruz, welcomed a delicious little chocolate girl named Avie into the family last fall. Avie fit right in from the beginning and seamlessly moved into her new role as BFF to her big brother, with whom she happily shares custody of her wonderful new parents.
Avie’s family sent us an update on their pup: After the loss of our black Lab, Chloe, to cancer, we were all devastated but our poor Cruz was heartbroken to lose his sister. He would cry and howl and roam the house looking for her. Kyle and I knew then that he was missing Chloe terribly and we had to find a companion for him again soon. Since we had such a great experience adopting our Chloe and Cruz from SHLR, we decided to contact them to help us once again in finding another great Lab. We had a meet and greet with Avie, a 2-1/2-year-old beautiful female chocolate lab, and with Cruz’s approval she joined our family that same day. Avie is a sweet loving girl who loves to give kisses, loves belly rubs and playing ball and frisbee in the yard with her brother. They also enjoy keeping all the neighborhood squirrels out of the yard together. She has the cutest tilt of her head when you are talking to her, and she is extremely loyal and follows me around everywhere like a shadow. She is excellent on car trips and enjoys our walks, and trips to the dog park are her favorite. She is a friend to all dogs and humans alike in the dog park. 
Avie has brought joy back into our lives, and I am happy to report that Cruz is smiling once again. We are so grateful to SHLR for bringing her into our lives.
