Benno is home to stay.  It’s clearly a great adoption match when you can’t decide who’s luckier— the pup or his new people.  We asked two-year-old Benno, and he just wagged for a minute and then said that he was definitely the luckiest because he has the most fun, adventurous, and loving family, complete with fabulous parents and kids, and they all live and play together in a Lab mountain paradise.  Meanwhile, Benno’s new parents, Kristin and Brian, are quite sure that they are the luckiest of all because they have beautiful Benno!

Benno’s new family sent us an update:

Legend has it that when a good person dies, he or she is reincarnated as a dog that gets to live in Crested Butte.  Benno (formerly Bronco) has adjusted seamlessly into his new life as a mountain dog and we could not be more grateful for his new presence in our lives!

We rescued a Lab from Safe Harbor in 2011 and he lived an amazingly full life, finally crossing the rainbow bridge this past summer at 14 years of age. The void he left in our home and our hearts seemed bottomless and we just had no idea how to navigate life without a dog. One evening, we got a call from SHLR letting us know that there was a very sweet (and handsome!) chocolate Lab in need of immediate placement. My husband loaded our boys up in the car and they drove 4 hours that night so they could meet the dog in the morning.

I am not sure what we have done to deserve another sweet, fun, hilarious Lab, but we could not be more thankful for our new son/brother, Benno. No complaints on his end with endless lakes, rivers, trails, and snow to play in.

Many thanks to Cathie O for facilitating this great adoption!
