When a Lab joins the Safe Harbor family, we are always there for them if the adopting family’s circumstances change. A gentle soul, nine-year-old Buddy re-joined us when his owner became too ill to care for him. He arrived with untreated diabetes that we brought under control with daily insulin injections, follow up care to adjust the dosage and prescription food. He visited our eye specialist who advised us diabetes could quickly lead to cataracts and blindness, and it happened over a matter of a few weeks. After an evaluation we learned Buddy was a good candidate for cataract surgery to restore his sight. He will soon see his foster mom’s smiling face again!
