It took a little time for him to believe he was finally right where he belonged, but thanks to his new parents, Dan and Becky, six-year-old Buddy is now learning all about love and trust, and how good it feels to wake up every morning knowing that you are truly home. Buddy has come a long way from his time on the streets, and there’s no doubt that life will just keep getting better and better for this beautiful boy, who has found the perfect place to unpack his bags, open his heart, and start making a lifetime of memories with his very own loving family.

Dan and Becky write: We are Trooper’s new mom and dad. First of all, Trooper is now known as Buddy – it just felt right. When we brought him home he rode in our car from Denver back to Grand Junction and did absolutely great. He slept in bed with us for the first few nights and preferred the perpendicular position between us. But now he prefers to sleep on the floor next to my side of the bed. He has put on some healthy weight and his hair has filled in completely – see the attached picture. When we got him he was really thin and his hair was worn off in places. His previous life must have been pretty hard because he has been extremely shy about coming when called but once he makes the commitment to let himself be close he loves it. As of about the last week he is much more at ease and uses the pet doors at will and likes to hang out with us and get the physical attention. We feel blessed to have him in our lives and I’m sure he feels the same way about us.
