When ten-year-old Miss Chaco’s owner could no longer care for her, with a heavy heart he took her to a shelter. With her raspy breathing, plethora of benign lumps and some arthritis in her spine, even though she had a good quality of life, the shelter did not see her as a dog many people would be interested in adopting. “She’s such a nice girl,” they said. Could we help her? So, we welcomed and loved Miss Chaco for the next two years. “She was a Lab who lived for her walks and was patient enough to let me dress her up like a butterfly for Easter,” her foster mom reminisced.
