“Me and you and a dog named Boo…”, woofed the melodic Miss Dixie when Stephanie and Mike asked her to describe her perfect family. Everyone quickly agreed that this lovely 9ish-year-old Lab girl would be a wonderful addition, and her new parents were soon driving Miss Dixie home.
Stephanie and Mike tell us:
Miss Dixie is our fourth SHLR bundle of joy. We were not looking to adopt at the time as we had lost SHLR #2, Cletus, and SHLR #3, Boo, is now 11 and set in his ways. I was reading your newsletter about a senior Lab in Utah that was surrendered by her family because they got a puppy. That infuriated me. So filled out another adoption application because we know what it’s like to take care of seniors – they need love too.
We soon found out that she had found a home, but would we be interested in Miss Dixie – 68 pounds of pure chocolate love. It was ❤️ at first site. Dixie and Boo are getting along so well. They chase each other around the main level of our home. She enjoys running around the backyard, going on walks and getting lots of loves. She loves Elk burgers too. We wouldn’t have changed a thing and are so happy to have Miss Dixie as a part of our family.
