“You can call me Doak,” woofs the former Luigi, as he proudly shows off his fabulous new parents, Jestin and Abby. Life is grand these days for this lively, lovely, 4(ish)-year-old Lab boy who is excelling in his new role of now-and-forever family Lab.

Doak’s new dad tells us:  “We are a very active couple and have been talking about adding a dog to our family for awhile now. We typically dog sit for our friends when they leave town and it’s time for us. Abby and I have staggered work schedules so one of us is typically home at all times. I’ve personally had experience with rescue Labs and understand the possible challenges of gaining trust with the dog. But once it’s happened, it’s one of the most rewarding partnerships you can have.”

Doak immediately fit into our lives providing laughs, love, and excitement. He is very young at heart and always aims to please whoever has his attention. Whether it be watching TV on the couch with the family or cruising the trails around our home, he is a very happy pooch.

Over Memorial Day weekend we brought him on his first big road trip to Aspen. There is no doubt in our minds that he is a “mountain dog.” Doak quickly made friends with three other labs and played all day long. It was so rewarding to watch him with his tail wagging and tongue out just being a dog.

We have many more adventures this summer and can’t wait to share them with our boy.
