Lucky Dugan gets to sit and stay forever in his new home with Emily and Kerry, their three kids, and a Border Collie/Princess mix named Bella. Dugan is fitting right in with his new family who have been diligently continuing his training with just the right mix of patience, understanding, and enthusiasm to bring out the very best in this, sweet, active, 1.5-year-old pup.

Dugan’s family sent us an update on their handsome new boy:

Dugan has been with us less than a month, and he is already part of the family. We looked for a long time to find a dog who might be the right second dog for us, up for outdoor adventures with our son, able to spend time inside and out and confident enough to fit in with our seven-year-old dog, Bella. We finally found Dugan at Safe Harbor Lab Rescue and thought he may be the dog.

Thanks to SHLR and Mitch from Denver Dog Training, who volunteers to foster and train dogs with them, we knew enough about Dugan and were sure that he was ready to adopt. Any issues described in his history are minimal. We had guidance and great advice through the adoption and after, and time at home is one thing going for us right now. We’ve lost one pair of shoes and a couple stuffed animals to chewing, and we’re working on leash manners and coming back reliably, but we’re having so much fun! Dugan has charmed us all. He just needed someone to play with, and I guess all of us did, too. Even Bella, though not quite ready to snuggle, seems to like having company at nap time and being a dog (instead of only the most princess-like of the girls in the house) running around the yard trading sticks and chew toys.
