Young Duke likes to live life to the fullest. Whether there’s a ball that needs to be retrieved, a trail that needs to be hiked, or a squirrel that must be chased — Duke is always first in line. Some of his favorite pursuits these days include accompanying his new mom, Kelly, on her daily walks and runs, then perhaps grabbing a cookie snack and settling in for a good cuddle session. Duke knows that he is home to stay and is thrilled to have adopted such a fun, active human.
Kelly recently sent us an update on her new pup: Big boy Duke joined me just two weeks before the Christmas holiday, so after only a week of companionship we began a 14 hour road trip together to see family. He immediately fit right in with his dog cousins, grandkids and rest of the family, and within 5 minutes of being out of the car showed off his swimming skills by jumping into a swimming pool. That curiosity and excitement has continued ever since. Duke loves to sniff everything new he comes across, chase after bunnies and squirrels and greet every dog and human he meets. He is an amazing running companion and sets the pace for our runs. We are still working on some leash skills and how to not eat the fresh baked cookies on the counter, but he is responding well to his training. He loves the snow and will dig as deep as he needs to find the hidden tennis ball. While Duke is full of energy, he is also the world’s best snuggler. I am thrilled SHLR was able to connect me to such a loving and curious boy and look forward to the future adventures of Mr. Duke! Many thanks to Ronda and Steve for fostering Duke/Dewey!
