A badly neglected seven-year-old Lab from a shelter that stopped adoptions when the COVID-19 crisis hit, Elsie with her heart of gold was instantly an easy Lab to love. She was weak, overweight and clearly been the mom to many puppies; she was missing large patches of fur all over her body and legs, her tail was bald, she had ear infections and was far from smelling like a rose. Routine senior blood work informed the vet that Elsie needed thyroid medication. In addition, her ears were treated and soothing medicated baths were welcomed. It was a long road to recovery, but a committed foster family helped her heal, fell in love with her and made her part of their family
Our veterinary partner for Elsie’s veterinary care is Alameda East Veterinary Hospital.
