Jett

All the Labs who come to us are tested for heartworms, a potentially life threatening parasite. Unfortunately, good natured two-year-old Jett, who had been abandoned out in the country, tested positive. The small rural shelter where he was taken planned to euthanize him as unadoptable until, with the help of a quick acting and dedicated rescue partner, we were able to get Jett to us for treatment.  His treatment will be both expensive and lengthy. Heartworm positive Labs stay with one of our foster families for several months for their treatment and recovery which includes medication, special injections during a monitored hospital stay in intensive care and weeks of strict rest, a tall order for a young Lab.

Thank you to Alameda East Veterinary Hospital for caring for Jett
