Lovely little Lark is the third Safe Harbor Lab to find her home with Ladd, and it didn’t take her long to realize that she had landed in puppy paradise. Two-year-old Lark is a golden-haired girl with a ready smile, a zest for life, and a nose for adventure, who looks forward to a lifetime of playdates with her active new dad.
Ladd writes: After my last dog passed (also a SHLR dog), I thought I’d wait a while before adopting again. I lasted six weeks. Life without a dog just wasn’t fulfilling. And with all the great summer activities in Colorado it seemed like every day presented me with something I’d rather be doing with a dog. So I decided to just take a peak at the SHLR website. We all know how that goes. A few days later I was off to meet Lark at her foster mom’s. It was Fourth of July and I was already planning to be off work for five days so the timing was perfect. We met and it was love at first sight for us both.
The next day I picked her up from her foster mom and we headed to the mountains for 4 days of bonding. I think it’s really important to spend as much time with the new dog in the first week as possible! We went hiking, I threw the ball for her, went swimming, and I even got her to trust me enough to sit on my paddle board for a while! The following days were great as we got to know each other and she quickly figured out my expectations. Nearly two months later and we are still having adventures!
