After Petey-Pooh, an eight-year-old neglected stray, spent several weeks in the shelter, the staff asked us to take this gentle boy. He had undergone surgery for a mass on his abdomen and clearly needed more TLC than the shelter could provide; and so, he joined us as a hospice pup. He loved sleeping long hours on a soft bed, and while he wasn’t much into playing, he enjoyed the company of the other senior dogs in the home.

All too soon under the watchful of his very experienced hospice mom, Petey-Pooh was not thriving as hoped. Follow-up vet care found Petey-Pooh had several significant health issues that impacted his quality of life. Even though he was with us only a short time, and tears came too soon, we were glad we could make sure he got the loving care every pup deserves.
