Pluto (fka Finnegan) was left in a foreclosed home and was almost dead when authorities found him. Safe Harbor took him to a vet and for 2 months tried to put some weight back on him. He had not been to a foster home when I got him, but he was the tallest and longest lab I had ever seen. He was still very underweight, but he played well with my other male dog, so I adopted him.  Pluto 1
I bought a kiddie pool since he was a lab, but he was longer than the 5′ diameter. No problem he stepped right in before it filled and laid down and started drinking water. I had to laugh and decided he needed a Disney dog name, thus “Pluto.”
The vet told me that Pluto was half bloodhound and half chocolate lab–that is why he was so tall and could stand with his paws on the top of my 6′ cedar fence. He was so happy living with me that he was always goofy and made me laugh about 40 times a day. He had many toys that he would toss up in the air and try to catch. His head was so big that his eyes were very far apart, so he couldn’t always focus too well on tennis balls that I threw. But he would always bring them back for me to throw again! He was so adorable, that he would pick up a slipper/leather shoe/toys and bring them to me. He would bow his head with whatever was in his mouth and wag his tail. I would say no and take away the inappropriate items, or “yes” when it was something he could have. When I said “yes, you can have that” he would gleefully gallop away and start chewing on his new found toy! (He loved the cardboard in the recycle bucket). He would tear it apart and come ask me if he could have another paper towel cardboard roll.

Pluto barked at anything that had wheels–cars, motorcycles, bicycles, baby buggies (I tried to stop that behavior) but I think he was just saying “Hi.” A bloodhound owner said that was normal for the breed.
Pluto was the most loving, easiest to teach, eager to learn and made the funniest faces. He was well loved and loved me unconditionally.  Thank you Safe Harbor Lab Rescue!Pluto 3
