Koda is an absolute gem of a companion! He’s easy-going, loves to snuggle, enjoys walks, and is fantastic with all ages. Plus, he even likes to jump on a trampoline with kids for fun! At six years old and a trim 66 pounds, Koda has been part of a large extended family since he was a wee pup. Unfortunately, circumstances changed, and they could no longer care for him. They mentioned that Koda’s mom was a chocolate Lab, while his dad remains a mystery.
Koda checks all the boxes for a great family dog and best friend! He’s house-trained, uses a doggie door, is crate-trained, and is fine with free roam of the home when you’re away. He knows a few commands, is eager to please, and is friendly to everyone who visits and when he’s out and about. On a leash, he’s a go-getter, so a front clip-type walking harness is best. Koda gets along great with other dogs and is indifferent to cats.
His foster mom shares: “Koda is so sweet and cuddly, with an easy-going charm about him. He thinks he’s a lap dog! Koda is very loving. He goes to the door when he needs to go out and waits patiently for his food dish to be put down. Koda really just wants to please his people and be around them. He gets very excited when he thinks we’re going for a walk.
“He needs a family or person who will love on him. I think an active family would be ideal since he does need some exercise. So far, toys and balls haven’t interested him much; he’s mostly a ‘people’ dog.”
His former family adds: “Koda is fun, energetic, kind, compassionate, very loving, loves to snuggle, is smart and eager to please. And he loves baths and will jump right in the tub!”
In a nutshell, Koda is one terrific best friend waiting for the perfect family!
Note: Koda’s forever home requires a six-foot fence. He came to us with medical needs that his family couldn’t afford to care for: a healing laceration on his leg and a history of severe ear infections that will require lifelong monitoring and care.
