Sam is a very sweet older gentleman who radiates gentle happiness, has a wonderful temperament and a tail that wags all the time. He’s eleven years old and, at his current 108 pounds, our vet recommends he lose about 20 pounds. Sam comes to us from a family who loved him since he was a wee pup, but their circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for their lifelong friend.
Adaptable Sam settled right into his foster home and was welcomed by the resident Lab. As you would expect from a well-loved Lab, Sam is house trained and fine with free roam of the home. He is a very nice leash-walking companion and enjoys getting out to explore the neighborhood with you. Other dogs and even cats count this happy, gentle boy as a friend. Sam is a very loyal friend who attaches easily to people. While he loves everyone, he has a little extra fondness for women.
When we asked Sam about his faves, he woofed in the wink of an eye: “Being with my people, carrying my tennis ball around 24/7, leisurely walks and napping on a soft bed. I’m an excellent napper!”
Like many mature Labs, Sam has some arthritis. He’s been started on a readily available daily medication and joint supplement to increase his comfort. Moderate daily exercise and losing his extra weight will greatly increase his comfort, too. A home with few or no stairs is required for Sam.
A loving companion with a ready smile whose favorite place is by your side, golden yellow Sam is sure to be a ray of sunshine in your life every single day!
