Like most Labs, Rocky is an eternal optimist. When he found himself all alone with no plans for the holidays, no meal reservations on his calendar, and only a borrowed bunk to sleep in, this lovely young boy still held out hope that better days were right around the corner. With a little help from his friends, Rocky made his way to Safe Harbor, and things quickly started looking up. Rocky enjoyed frolicking in foster care, but when Carol and Martin came along and offered to love, cherish, and feed him forever, Rocky jumped at the offer and has never looked back.  At just 2-3 years old, Rocky has a lifetime to show his new parents how happy he is that they chose him to join their family, and to perfect his already impressive snuggling skills.

rocky-adoption Carol sent us an update on life with Rocky:  Rocky is the second dog we have adopted from Safe Harbor Lab Rescue. After our black lab, Dewey, passed about a year ago, we felt empty without a fuzzy family member in our lives. Rocky came bounding into our lives with tail wagging and lots of love to give. With his puppy-like enthusiasm, he claimed us when we met by snuggling up to us and showing us that he was ready for our new adventure!  Rocky is our shadow, and prefers to be at the center of whatever is happening in the house. And, as you can see, he is more than comfortable snuggling with Marty on the sofa. His gentle, kind, playful spirit carries over to both the new people he meets, and the new friends at his favorite place- the dog park!
Rocky is very smart, and in a few short weeks has mastered many commands. He has made it known that he may be a natural at agility training.  For sure, Rocky is loving life, and we are loving him.
