Sister, a six-year-old Chocolate Lab from Oklahoma who recently had puppies who were nowhere to be found, was left at a shelter by a family who no longer wanted her. Due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 crisis, the small animal control facility housing her was no longer doing adoptions. A large older Lab, she was at risk for euthanasia. Rescue was her only option. Once with us, our vet discovered this gentle good-natured Lab lady had mastitis, a painful inflammation and infection in her breast tissue. A course of antibiotics is underway. With medication and daily warm compresses, she is looking forward to feeling a lot more comfortable.
