Making the decision to give up a faithful friend is never easy, no matter what the reasons may be. We understand that sometimes it may be necessary due to changing family circumstances that make it impossible to keep your Lab. We know how stressful this can be and should you choose to re-home your Lab through Safe Harbor Lab Rescue, you will have peace of mind that you did the very best you could for your Lab.

Please fill out our Surrender a Lab Form and once we receive your form, a Safe Harbor Lab Rescue coordinator will contact you to discuss next steps.  Please note we are a Lab specific rescue however, AKC papers are not required to prove your dog is a Lab.  If you have a Safe Harbor Lab that you would like to return, please email our Surrender team directly at surrender@safeharborlabrescue.org and someone will contact you.

If we are able to accept your Lab and re-home him/her into a new loving home, you may be able to see their “New Beginning” story on Safe Harbor Lab Rescue’s website once they’ve been adopted.

Please provide us with the basic information below about the Lab you wish to surrender. We also require at least two photographs of your Lab: one head shot and one full body shot. Click here to view acceptable photographs.

We will review this preliminary information and contact you within 48 hours and let you know if we are able to assist or not. If so, we will ask you to complete a detailed surrender form about your Lab.  Please note we are a Colorado based rescue.

Safe Harbor Lab Rescue requests a $50.00 donation at time of surrender to help with costs that we incur in caring for the Labs in our care. If a donation is a financial hardship, it will be waived.
