Transporting a Lab
Getting our Labs “to and from” is an important job! Here’s a peek into the duties of a transport volunteer. A request goes out from the Transport Coordinators via a blast email. If the requested date and time work with your schedule, hit respond on your email to say you are available! From there the coordinators will send you the detailed instructions of where our Lab needs to be picked up, where they need to go, etc. It’s that simple!
The most frequent requests are meeting incoming Labs at the I-70 & Tower Road PETCO, the Stegosaurus Lot at I-70 & Morrison exit and the Lakewood PETCO. From here they go to Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, our partner vet. Sometimes the Labs need a ride to their foster home or facility after vetting. Others need rides to and from medical appointments when the foster is unavailable. We have long-distance transport needs as well.
The only equipment you need is a slip lead, a collar, a crate (if available), treats, and the ability to fax or scan documents, or send from your smart phone. The transport team is an excellent opportunity for hands-on work with the Labs helping them to their forever homes. Your reward—soft kisses and wagging Labby tails!
