Zeffie, a four-year-old stray yellow Lab, spent several months in a small shelter. This sweet, gentle young lady who has had many puppies, had profoundly neglected painful ears. Not only did both ears have severe chronic internal infection, but the outer ear under the ear flap was also inflamed, infected, and disfigured.
Zeffie is being seen by specialists at CSU. One ear had irreparable damage and required TECA (total ear canal ablation) surgery where her entire ear canal had to be removed. The other ear needed special treatment under anesthesia; the doctor is hopeful it can be saved. Meanwhile Zeffie has soaked up a lot of TLC from her foster dad and is feeling a lot better.
Zeffie is being cared for by the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Dermatology Department and Alameda East Veterinary Hospital.
