My Story: Soon after I arrived at Safe Harbor in September, I started feeling kind of crummy. A trip to the ER revealed I had parvovirus (parvo), a life threatening disease that can progress quickly in puppies. I was hospitalized in the ICU isolation unit at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital for prompt supportive care including intravenous fluids, anti-nausea medication, and vitals monitoring. Fortunately, I was back on my paws pretty soon and able to rejoin my foster family to finish recuperating.
