Introducing our newest Chocolate morsel . . . Miss Gracie! She’s eight years old and a svelte 57 pounds of Lab love. Staff at a crowded shelter asked us to take this abandoned girl, something we were most happy to do!
Gracie is house trained, fine with free roam of the home, knows sit, comes when called, and working on other commands. She’s a friendly waggy greeter, and an affectionate, cooperative, and playful companion. Leash manners are pretty good until she spies a rabbit then a hold on! Gracie is friendly with dogs out and about and did well with dogs her size when tested at the shelter. Given her prey drive for rabbits, she will not be placed with a small dog. No cats please!
Miss Gracie’s faves? “Retrieving balls, playing with my stuffed ‘Lamby’, looking for rabbits, and being with my family!” Thunder? “Not a fave!”
Gracie’s foster mom adds:
“Gracie bonded quickly and is very trusting of us. She’s been sweet and affectionate with us, family, and people entering our home Gracie is very active and agile and fast for her age. She is fairly active patrolling the yard for critters. Quickly learned to use dog door. OK in car.
“Gracie stays pretty close to us in house. Likes to be petted, massaged. Will not voluntarily get on furniture with us — maybe had been trained not to. Gracie has a very strong prey drive, mostly towards rabbits. Friendly towards neighboring dogs across fence. Have walked her in open space, where she mostly is nose down, sometimes wants to approach other dogs.
“The best forever home for Gracie? A typical Lab, she’s a ‘people’ dog who wants to be with people as much as possible. Gracie is active enough that she needs a sizeable yard for games of fetch, running and playing, and sniffing out pesky rabbits. Daily walks are a must!”
