Miss Nala is a loving and playful Lab whose greatest wish is to be a big part of her family’s life. She’s a trim 63 pounds and surprises everyone when this energetic lady tells them she’s nine years old! Miss Nala joins us from family who loved and cared for her since puppyhood, but their circumstances changed.
Miss Nala is house trained and knows a variety of commands. She’s playful, affectionate, and a friendly greeter. Nala relishes being outdoors for a nap in the sun, a walk, or a game of fetch. After an active day, she loves to cuddle with you on the sofa and then sleep soundly all night. Out and about or at the dog park she’s friendly with other dogs, but at home, she’d like to be your only canine princess. No cats, please! She needs work on taking treats, balls, and toys from you gently.
Her foster mom reports:
“Nala is a wonderful, sweet, happy dog and a great companion. She just wants to be near people and is eager to please. She’s very adaptable – she was immediately comfortable with me and my house. I think she has the kind of personality that you immediately become her best friend
“She can be excitable, but she really picks up on the energy of the room. If you approach her with lots of energy, she will get really spun up. If you’re calm, she’s calm or can be calmed by saying “easy, easy”’. My house is quiet and boring since I work from home. She just sleeps in whatever room I am in. She asks for pets and can be pushy, but you usually only must ask her once to go on or lay down.
“She knows her commands and name and is easy to get to follow direction. She responds quickly with whatever you want her to do. She has zero body awareness so she knocks things over and can run into things if she isn’t paying attention, so she won’t be good around young kids.
“Nala loves being brushed and getting a bath. She loves looking out the window and watching the world go by without barking or whining at dogs or people that go by. She just seems to enjoy life most when she’s with someone.
“The best would be a home where someone is home most of the time. A work from home situation would be perfect for her. She only seems to be anxious when she is left alone. Exercise will be great for her to gain confidence and enjoy life but most of all she needs someone or a family that prioritizes her and being with her.”
We can add that she needs a Lab savvy leader in a calm stable home who is consistent with expectations and training. It is important that her new people are active and home more than away to give her needed stability and security.
“So, grab a ball and let’s play!” wags the lovey Miss Nala.
