You’ve heard of Ozzie Osbourne, Ozzie and Harriet, and the Wizard of Oz(zie), but the ultimate Ozzie is our twelve year old, Ozzie! This super handsome good natured Lab with a sixth sense for sniffing out love and snuggles is blind and weighs a perfect 78 pounds. Ozzie has been a loved companion, but a change in his owner’s circumstances brought him to us for a new home.

As you would expect from a well-loved Lab, Ozzie is housetrained, fine with free roam of the home and knows some commands. He hears very well and responds well to a pat on your leg for guiding him. Ozzie quickly learns his way around! Ozzie is a very endearing greeter with a wagging tail who gently offers you a paw. He’s delightful on leash and enjoys several walks a day. Ozzie gets along well with other dogs, not sure about cats. Faves? “Carrying a tennis ball around, a good bone to chew on, naps, being brushed, and most of all being loved on.”

His foster mom is quite smitten:

“Ozzie is goofy, happy and a very sweet boy! He just wants to be loved and have you hold his paw for as many hours of the day as you can accommodate. He’ll even fall asleep outside while I brush him.

“He enjoys being outside, allowed to smell and roam around in a safe environment. He listens well to commands to avoid bumping into things and recovers well when he does bump into something!

“The best home for Ozzie is one where someone can be around most of the time, and has a calm environment. Blind dogs need to be able to navigate a home that is uncluttered and safe for them. Few or no stairs are best for Oz, and a backyard space that is free from low branches, and drop off spaces such as retaining walls to avoid him falling.

“He loves to be around people, he will lay on the kitchen floor while you cook and lay by your side when you settle in for the night. He just needs to feel safe and close to his owner.”

A gentle, good natured sweetheart happy to have a second chance as your well-loved best friend, that’s our Ozzie!
