Introducing…The Biscuit. Hiker of trails, lover of cookies, champion snuggler, budding snow skier, dedicated couch snoozer, and Instagram star — Biscuit is a dog for all seasons and she’s currently making the most of winter in the mountains. Six-month-old Biscuit adopted Julie and Jon just before Christmas, and she has been busy keeping them on their toes and standing on their skis ever since.

Biscuit’s new parents sent us an update on her life in Lab paradise: Jon tells Biscuit (formerly Maddie) that he wasn’t convinced from the photos that she was the dog for us. To be honest I wasn’t sure I was ready for her either after just a few months prior having to put down our rescue lab, Abbey, at 15 years old, I was still heartbroken. But it is clear we both hit the jackpot and Biscuit has quickly adapted to life up in Steamboat. In the days after we adopted her, we realized just what a great dog she is. House training was a non-issue, she learned sit, stay and down just as quick but it was her personality that we love — she is a lover! We call her the house dragon as she is either snoring on the couch next to us or zooming around the trails. She loves to hike, cross country ski (still figuring out not to eat the skis or stand on them) and visiting her doggie pals at the office with Jon. She thinks the gondola up at the ski area was the biggest flying bird she has ever seen. And she is still trying to figure out why everyone on skis didn’t stop to pet her since she is famous with her own Instagram page #TheBiscuitofTheBoat. Jon laughs when people come up and pet her because he has no idea who they are but they know The Biscuit!

While we still have a few things to figure out…. she hates being left alone. It doesn’t matter if she is in the kennel or has free roam in the house, our neighbors tell us she howls. But we are making big strides in her confidence level and it has only been a little over a month. We think she is figuring out that this is her forever home, and we plan on her being our flower girl/ring bearer in our wedding this coming summer. Thank you, Safe Harbor, for rescuing Biscuit!!
