Dare we say it was meant to be?  Just when a cheery, charming, Lab chap named Breck found himself in need of a new lodgings (as well as a family to keep things running smoothly) along came Pam and her husband who had found themselves in need of another charming Lab to cheer up their senior girl, Maggie.   When Breck heard that this wonderful family came with not just one, but two, homes (including one in Breck-enridge) and were big fans of outdoor adventures, he knew that he was just the guy they needed to bring home the fun and accompany the lovely Lab damsel on leisurely outings and indoor nap marathons. Pam tells us:Later in 2023, we really noticed that our beloved chocolate Labrador (also a rescue) was really slowing down at the estimated age of 13.  She was spending a lot of time sleeping and not showing as much interest in being out in our main living area with us.  From reading about the “pack mentality,” we decided introducing another pup to our household might help invigorate some more interest in her day-to-day life.  Safe Harbor Lab Rescue did a great job of considering our needs for any potential Labrador family member to join our “pack.”  We needed a mature, confident, well behaved canine “citizen” that could join our family and become a comforting sibling to our sweet Maggie.  When SHLR called to tell us about Breck, a 6.5 year old black Labrador, we knew we had to meet him.  Not only was the description of his temperament perfect, but his name was “spot on.”  We spend lots of time in Breckenridge with a second home there and absolutely love the outdoor life in the mountains.  His name was PERFECT!Breck quickly settled into our home and has motivated Maggie with a bit more energy and a noticeably greater interest in life.  She and Breck have become fast friends and meanwhile, our entire neighborhood is asking what amazing rescue we used to find just the right pup. 🐾♥️Thank you SHLR!  You are doing great work for the canine and human souls you serve! Many thanks to Marlene and Bill for fostering Breck!
