When searching for their next canine family member, Matt and Emily knew they wanted a mature dog who would be a good companion for their 11-year-old Golden Retriever, Honey. A handsome 7-year-old Yellow Lab named Cash was the lucky pup who won them all over and was chosen to join the family. Cash is an athletic and avid outdoors man who mellows out nicely when hanging out at home, and he’s proving to be a sweet, respectful brother to Honey, the four-legged grand dame of the house.
Matt sent us an update on their new boy: Cache (as we chose to spell it, like the Cache la Poudre River) is settling in well. We (Emily, my wife, and Honey, our golden retriever) are so lucky to have found a perfect addition to our family. We took lots of time to browse dogs and waited until one felt just right. SHLR was super helpful and patient with us throughout the process. Penny, who was Cache’s foster mom, was also super dedicated, helpful and responsive.
Since bringing our new boy into the family, we have enjoyed more typical Colorado active dog outings – I run with Cache a few times a week, he loves local trails and creeks, but is also a huge couch cuddler. Honey has started to think he’s alright too – they sometimes give each other face licks after walks! We couldn’t be happier with our new doggie, and with all the support from SHLR. Thanks again!
