Five-year-old Chet might be new to his outdoor life on the western slope, but it is in his soul. Each new adventure this big black boy faces he does it with zest. His forever family gives him a proverbial long leash as affectionate Chet has retained some good training from his past life.
Here are some highlights Chet sent us:
“After a very long drive we got ‘home’. Whenever they sit down, I am in their lap.
We went for long walks where I met some large creatures called horses and then some ones my size that I was told were newborn calves and to stay away from both. I don’t think I’ve ever seen either of those before. I was very good on my leash and didn’t pull.
“After a few days we took a drive to a very pretty place the people called the Black Canyon National Park. There we took off on a walk and the people unhooked my leash. I ran like the wind. But when they said “come” I immediately came right back to them. They were very happy. We did that for hours.
“The next day we went to the same place but this time the people put long sticks on their feet. We went even farther and faster. We’ve been “skiing,” their word for it, many times to many fun places.
“The doors have handles that I can push down and open. I’ve gotten into some trouble doing that.
“The other day it stopped being cold and snowy, so we went for a walk in a different direction and came to a big pond. It was too cold to get in this time, but I think it’s going to be very exciting this summer.
“The people tell me they love me as much as the five other Labs they have loved. They think Chaco who also came from SHLR picked me out for them. I’m sure glad he did.”
Thank you, Ladean, for fostering Tater/Chet
