You may think you’ve seen this play before, but Sam is making sure that this sweet Cordelia’s story has a happy ending. His Cordelia is a lovely three-year-old Lab princess who readily offered him her merry companionship and dogged devotion in exchange for a forever spot in his heart and home and perhaps a little cheese now and then.

Sam tells us:

I don’t know who named Cordelia, but they must know their Shakespeare. In the play King Lear, Cordelia is viewed as a loving and loyal character. This couldn’t be more true of my Cordelia, or Cordi for short.

Most days Cordi and I go for a couple walks, play fetch, hang out while I work from home, and sometimes even run together! She pulls me along on those runs, giving me a boost. And even when we’re not running she gives me an emotional boost.

Was that cheesy? Maybe, but that’s fine because Cordi loves cheese. Well, she’ll eat almost anything. Today I spilled a drop of peanut butter on the floor and let’s just say there was no need for me to clean it up.

I can’t explain why I wanted to get a dog other than it felt “right”. And having had Cordi for several months now, I know I made the right call. It’s been a blast. Thanks, SHLR.

Many thanks to Pat for fostering Cordelia!
