We adopted Hercules (Herc) from Safe Harbor Lab Rescue on October 21, 2017. Herc was believed to be 10 years old when he entered care at Safe Harbor. We had recently lost our 16-year chocolate Lab mix. Brandy, and although we didn’t know it, we needed Herc to come into our home and hearts! He was our constant companion until April 15 of this year when we had to let him cross the Bridge due to the relentless onslaught of aging: myopathy, neuropathy, and cardiac issues. He was brave and valiant until the end, never losing his sense of play, and he was always ‘the bestest boy’. He moved with us 3 times over 2 years (and he was a great travel companion, too!), until we settled into our dream retirement home in SE Arizona, where he got to sniff out bunnies, and lizards and to bark at the roadrunners who came to tease him on the porch. We will see you again, dear Herckle, and we will have the squeaky ball and your stuffed dragon toy with us when we do. We thank Safe Harbor for finding Herc for us. Rest now, sweet guy.
