As soon as Luke met Carol and Pete, he knew they were great folks (because dogs know these things) so just imagine his delight when he realized he was going home with them! Even then, this gorgeous 18-month-old pup had no idea of the amount of love, adventure, new friends, good home cooking, and fabulous stuffies, that awaited him in this next, best, and forever chapter of his life.

Carol and Pete sent us an update on life with Luke:

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Cooper, (formerly Buddy) our first Safe Harbor rescue in October. We knew we wanted to adopt another rescue from Safe Harbor. When we saw Gunner’s photo and heard about his story we knew we had to meet him. We were so delighted when we met him, and we knew he would be just right for us. We named him Luke because he is a blessing to us. Luke adapted very quickly to our home in a rural community. Our home borders a national forest, so he is enjoying a life of daily hikes and takes great interest in all the wildlife. He was very easy to train and he walks gently on a leash. He loves to retrieve tennis balls when we take him to a nearby open space as well. He adores his toys, especially big stuffed buddies he often carries around and enjoys snuggling with them. He loves just hanging out with us and is very quick in learning all his commands. He has met many new friends in our neighborhood both humans and new doggie friends. Luke is a wonderful part of our life and he keeps us laughing with his adorable antics. We plan on many new adventures for him as we introduce him to all the places Cooper also enjoyed.
