Four-year-old Luna had a hunch she was getting the very best family when she met her new dads, Patrick and Joe, and canine big brother, Otis. She knew everything was going to be okay when she realized they understood she needed time to decompress and allow her inner lovable Labness to shine through. What she did not know about (and says she doesn’t recall signing up for) was the DIET. “Yes, the diet. As in smaller portions. Maybe a green bean or two. And lots of healthy exercise,” woofed Luna woefully, when we interviewed her for this story. After a minute or so, she admitted to quite enjoying her new slimmer, trimmer self and that it was well worth having to forego a few extra kibbles in order to look so fabulous and be able keep up with her new family.
Luna’s dads tell us:
Things are going great with Luna. When we first got her she was a hefty girl, weighing in at almost 90 lbs. She was very stoic and stubborn and low energy. But we could tell immediately she was sensitive and loving, and most importantly, a cuddler. We have had a great few months working on her weight and now she’s thriving. She’s down to 74 lbs with a goal of 65, and she seems so much happier. She’s such a friendly, sweet and curious pup. When she meets a new person she calmly sits at their feet and occasionally offers a paw. She loves her brother, our elder greyhound lab-mix Otis, and they are always together. She enjoys the dog park although she’s more interested in greeting other people than the dogs. She snuggles every night for TV and loves to sit at the window and watch world go by. We love her and are so glad she ended up with us!
Many thanks to Ladean for fostering Luna/Snowflake!
