It appears that it didn’t take long for Maebe to win over her new dad and have him firmly wrapped around her (not so) little paw.  Two-year-old Maebe quickly became top dog around Jennifer and Sean’s house, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Maebe’s new mom tells us:

When we decided to get a dog, my husband was adamant we were getting a female chocolate Lab puppy from a breeder. He said he didn’t want a rescue because it was too unpredictable. I had been looking at Lab rescues and found Maebe (formally Nala) on the SHLR website. I showed him the photo and description of Maebe and the first thing he said was “when can we pick her up.”

Maebe has been with us for five months and we can’t imagine life without her. She has the biggest heart, loves to cuddle and is always close by. She is living her best life in the mountains. She loves to hike and her favorite thing is to roll around in the snow. Now that the snow has melted, she is finding mud to be a good replacement. Luckily we put in a dog shower! Her favorite spot to sleep is anywhere in the sun and she is starting to get used to hanging out on the deck. We are looking forward to a fun summer exploring the trails and hopefully getting her used to the water.

We are so thankful that Safe Harbor found Maebe and that we found Safe Harbor. My husband said the week after we got her, “If we ever get another dog, it’s going to be a rescue.”

Many thanks to Kathy and Chris for fostering Maebe/Nala!
