Bill opened his heart and home wide enough to let the lovely Ms. Pippa come in and make herself comfortable forever. Five-year-old Pippa is loving her new life and particularly enjoys having the longest stride of the four-legged crew when she and her new Dachshund siblings step out for walks with Dad.

Bill sent us an update on his new Lab girl:

Pippa is enjoying her new home with me and my three Dachshunds in Fruita, Colorado on the Western Slope. She enjoys having her stuffed Lamb Chops with her, often carrying “Lammie” around the house and backyard in her mouth. I take Pippa and my two senior Long Haired Dachshunds Harley D Lowrider and Razz for our early morning walks daily around the neighborhood. Pippa enjoys riding around with me in the pickup truck when I run errands to stores that allow dogs inside.

As Pippa already knew the basic dog obedience commands, I took her to Petco in Grand Junction on August 2nd to take her AKC Canine Good Citizen test which she easily passed and got her AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate. My plan is to get Pippa certified as a Therapy Dog in December. Alliance of Therapy Dogs, where I had my 10 year old female Yellow Lab Avery certified through as a Therapy Dog, said Pippa needs to be with me for six (6) months before she can become a Certified Therapy Dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. In the meantime I will continue to take Pippa with me to stores that allow dogs for further training and socialization. When the weather cools down, I will be taking Pippa with me to hike trails around Fruita and take photos of her.

Many thanks to Kathy M. for facilitating the adoption and helping Pippa find her way home!
