One-year-old Whiskey found his forever home with Henry and his pups, Chava and Apex, and Henry sent us an update on the new kid:
Whiskey came to me on April 28, 2024, medicated due to anxiety and issues in his past history. He said that he was in dire need of loving, caring, and a forever home, and I assured him that he made the right choice. I already had a 3 year old male Malinois and another 10 year old female Lab which he accepted as readily as they did him. They have helped greatly with the training and his relaxing and settling into house routines. I was shared a laundry list of his problems and what he had yet to accomplish.
In 6 weeks, we have stopped one medication entirely and are weaning off the other. He had a lot to learn moving to yet another environment and has been a great trooper. He loses control/excitement when getting leashed for a walk but immediately regains after leaving the front door. He has learned the three dog doors in the house and comes and goes when he desires. He only really barks when I return home from being away on errands. He travels in the car well, recalls are great, he sits and goes down on command well, waits until released for meals. He has learned to wait for three minutes before eating), leaves the kitchen when told, as counter surfing is still being worked on, and he flies up and down stairs. He has had his bad moments, one being, whittling down my new sassafras walking stick by three inches. He is a great dog and still learning.
He is a great dog and eager to please and adjusting very, VERY well considering.
Many thanks to Les for fostering Whiskey!
