After a stint on the streets, one-year-old Woody knew he wasn’t cut out for life on the lam. “I’m more of a soft dog bed and two squares a day kind of guy,” he explains. Woody’s wish list also included a couple of loving parents, a canine sibling, and plenty of outdoor activities. He found all that and more when he joined Stefanie and Shawn’s family, which came complete with the best big dog brother ever, Gus, who quickly became Woody’s mentor, bff, and built-in playmate.
Woody’s new parents tell us:
It was love at first sight! Woody had our hearts before we left the foster mom’s home. He is the sweetest little love! We had recently said goodbye to a darling golden girl and yearned for another love to share our lives with. We’ve always had two dogs and were overjoyed when Woody joined the family. Gus, our seven year old Weimaraner/ great pyrenees rescue has taken Woody under his wing. The boys have a strong bond; they sleep, wrestle, explore, play chase, watch wildlife and “hunt” together. Woody is an energetic little guy that loves hiking, long walks and racing around at the dog park with his buddies. Everyone is excited when Woody arrives at the park because he gets all the dogs running!
Woody is a cuddle bug! He loves sleeping curled up next to you. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning when you have a soft, warm lab head under your chin! We are excited to spend the summer in Canada with Woody. Camping and exploring trails is this lab’s jam! Woody will be working toward earning his Colorado therapy dog certificate in the fall.
We will forever be grateful to all the wonderful volunteers at Safe Harbor for bringing Woody into our lives! A special shout out to Gay for fostering Woody!
Our thanks also to Gay for fostering Woody/Coal and helping him find his dream family!
